Narrative essay self-reflection time

The process of writing my story about me preparing empanadas was a challenge, not only did I have to pick the most convenient topic I could, but also make sure I followed the guidelines. The essay perhaps wasn’t as outstanding as it was intended to be, but it accomplished its goal, for the most part. I think there was plenty of room for me to improve, as well as things that I could continue doing to help my writing process. So I would like to reflect on my story about me preparing empanadas and explain to further detail if I used the necessary requirements to make a good essay.

What made me consider my story about me preparing empanadas was that it was the most vivid memory with a food related topic. It made me think that I could make a story that could relate to the audience because it was my first time making them. In the story, I tried to engage with the audience by making the point clear and stating my thoughts throughout the story. I think that this method may have worked, but I also think that perhaps I should have used more imagery to engage even more with the audience, to accomplish this goal. while, the stance of the story was transmitted through how I felt, as I stated, I mostly felt nervous while preparing the empanadas and made an emphasis on it while cooking. I think that I have made a good stance in my story, which was not my main concern.

My story also contained other parts such as the its genre and purpose. The genre of my story was supposed to be a narrative essay. I did achieve making it a narrative, but sometimes I went off topic, but in the end I feel like I was able to achieve this goal. I also had to deal with its purpose, well I think that I was able to inform the reader my point in the story, by making my thesis clear and having an structure. The main purpose was to tell the reader about my first time making empanadas, although I regret not using much imagery, I think that I accomplished the goal.

In the making of my story, I used strategies to formulate the best outcome. By using the peer review comments on my draft, and also having other people read over my work I was able to make a final draft. I feel like this helped me fix many errors that I had on my story to make it fit context with the audience and its purpose. I also did my own proofread of my work as well as I engaged in collaboratory aspects of other peer essay which did help me complete my own. In these strategies helped me understand some missing aspects of my story, that I tried to fix and make better.

In conclusion, now that I look back at it, in my story about that time I prepared empanadas I was able to fulfill its purpose, and genre, show its stance and exigence and relate with the audience. However, I should have used more elements in my writing choices such as imagery or more direct dialect to bring more in the context and make it more interesting. I also was able to portrait the strategies I used as it helped me write my story into a context that could be understood by the audience, and show the rhetorical situations at play furthermore. However I need to implement more strategies for a better outcome of any story that I write. In the end I feel like my story was mostly successful on being a narrative essay. The first thing I did was create a outline
